T. Marin - A. Albano
Multimedia course for preadolescents and teenagers (11-17 years old). Level pre-intermediate (B1).
Progetto italiano Junior 3 for English speakers
is the third of three levels of a modern, multimedia Italian course
designed for adolescents and pre-adolescents who want to reach level A1
of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
It follows the comic-book adventures of five Italian teenagers who share
the same interests, encounter the same problems and live the same
experiences as their readers. The content of the course is thus both
realistic and humorous, appealing to the different learning needs and
styles of teenage students through easily identifiable characters.
The course offers:
- a sensible balance between communicative and grammatical elements, presented in an inductive way;
-
socio-cultural references employing authentic materials such as
photos, quizzes etc. self-evaluation exercises both in the middle and at
the end of each unit;
-
authentic interviews with young Italians that give students the
opportunity to listen to the opinions of their peers, in a variety of
accents;
-
insight into the life of teenagers in Italy, presented in the style of a magazine called Conosciamo l’Italia;
-
mini projects at the end of each unit which apply the principles of
project based learning; a comprehensive grammar appendix written in
simple English;
-
an Italian-English glossary;
- A modern and dynamic lay-out, especially designed to appeal to
students of this age group, keeping a balance between comics and
photographs.
Progetto italiano junior is not a just a “light” version of Nuovo
Progetto italiano, even if it is based on the same structure. It is a
course book conceived and designed for adolescent students, respecting
their interests, learning rhythm and needs. More specifically the main
features of Progetto italiano junior over Nuovo Progetto italiano are
the following:
- The subject of each unit is presented through a comic story that
narrates the life and adventures of 5 young friends who will also
accompany the student in all three volumes of this course;
- The sections about Italian civilization are completely new,
lighter and structured as a magazine with news and information about the
aspects of Italian life that are more interesting for young students;
- The exercises are completely new; the Workbook is colored and contains a phonetic exercise in each unit;
- A grammar Appendix explains the grammar elements studied in each unit;
- The unit subjects (parties, music, school, friends and technology) are new and more suitable to a young public;
- The possessives are presented in the first volume while in Nuovo Progetto italiano 1 are presented in unit 6;
- There is regular recycling of key language throughout the course
with focus on high-frequency vocabulary, collocations and idioms from
the dialogues;
- The section “Progettiamo!” at the end of each unit invites students to practice;
- Frequent quizzes and psychological games for an in depth study
of the subjects and aspects of teenager’s life as well as for the use of
the most common vocabulary;
- The DVD Video (Progetto italiano Junior Video 3, Windows/Mac compatible) is attached to the book free of charge.
