Nuovo Senza frontiere is the new edition of Senza Frontiere, an Italian language course in three volumes aimed at immigrant adults who can read and write in their own language. It covers the A1-B1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and was designed to be used in a class group with a teacher.
Nuovo Senza frontiere 3 covers the B1 level and is made up of:
- Student’s book
- Exercise book
- Online guide (Copy of the test and certificates + video activities)
The materials and subjects chosen are particularly motivating; the material is authentic and closely linked to and aimed at the world of students. In fact, Nuovo Senza frontiere 3 aims at a “know how to” type of language learning: enrol in a language exam, contact the customer service of a bank, understand and fill in a form about privacy, make a written complaint, and much much more.
The
Student’s book offers a clear, well-defined structure, respecting the cohesion and coherence of the lexical, communicational and grammatical elements. It is organised in three modules of four units each in which the public, professional and educational dominions are developed. Each of the 12 units is subdivided into two lessons.
A typical unit is organised as below:
- an initial page of vocabulary, with the key words used throughout the unit;
- lessons A and B with equal focus on the four abilities: listening, reading, speaking and writing;
- the “La nostra classe” (Our Class) feature full of communicational and collaborative activities;
- the “Educazione alla cittadinanza e civiltà” (Civic Education) feature which looks more in depth as some of the themes touched upon in the unit, for example: Italian and European citizenship, electronic payments, safety in the workplace, unions, and much more.
- a self-evaluation page.
The Exercise book contains exercises corresponding to each unit of the Student’s book. These exercises are useful to fix and consolidate that learnt during the lesson: vocabulary revision and consolidation exercises; exercises for establishing communicational functions; reading and writing activities; grammar exercises
