Features
Via del Corso is aimed at adult students with B2 level Italian. It is an innovative manual divided into four levels, built around a story set in this first volume in Naples, and aimed at developing confident communication skills even from the first few lessons. The story helps to build curiosity, motivate, involve, excite, and create empathy and serves as a catalyst for the learning process.
It is an original black comedy, told alternately through a sit-com and a graphic novel. The video and tables are fully integrated within the structure of the course and are not merely a simple supplementary resource. Students are personally involved as they themselves get to choose how the story ends.
To facilitate the progress of the lesson, all the video episodes can also be found on the audio CDs as radiodramas. This choice has made it possible to best valorise all the inputs – oral and written – making them even more coherent from the communicative and pragmatic viewpoints.
Other features of Via del Corso:
- gradual progression: the students’ needs as well as the requirements of the linguistic level in reference have all been considered;
- recreational activities: in the Student’s Book, the Exercises, Didactic Guide and on the i-d-e-e platform, with a number of games;

The units in the
Student’s Book have reached a balance between a stable and reliable structure, a point of reference for both student and teacher, and a large variety of inputs (texts and audio-visual).
Structure of the didactic unit:
- Ready?, introductory section to activate pre-knowledge and emotionally involve students by stimulating their curiosity;
- Two episodes of the story, one video episode (sit-com) and one graphic novel respectively, followed by activities to check comprehension, discover communicational and grammatical elements, and listening, lexical, speaking and written exercises;
- Italia&italiani, section dedicated to Italian culture and civilisation, with the aid of a special video;
- Summary, one page summarising the communicational and grammatical elements found in the unit.
Moreover, at the ends of Units 3, 6 and 10 we find a
Revision, revision activities under the guise of original, motivating didactic games to make the learning process more fun and collaborative.

Material for A/B activities, information to carry out – often in a fun way – communicative tasks bridging the information gap in a creative way.
